About

Hi, my name is Emily, and I love to bake and cook! I love collecting cookbooks new and old, cake stands large and small, cupcake wrappers, and any kind of sprinkle imaginable.  I love discovering new bakeries and candy shops!

I went to Virginia Tech and got my BS degree in Marketing Management.  Soon after graduation, I got married and my husband and I moved from Northern Virginia to the Seattle area.  I started working at Williams-Sonoma and then moved over to the Pottery Barn.  I have always had a passion for food and after working retail for several years, I decided go to Baking and Pastry school at the Art Institute in Seattle.  While in school and shortly after, I worked in a new bakery (and learned a lot about starting a new business) as well as a French bakery (and learned a lot about how not to treat customers).

In the fall of 2008, I had my amazing daughter, Madison, and was lucky enough to be able to stay at home with her.  I’ve always had the dream of opening my own bakery some day, but in the meantime, I thought it would be fun to start a blog about my baking and cooking adventures, as well as being a new mother.  We recently decided it was time to make it back to the East Coast and in the Spring of 2012 we bought a house in Northern Virginia. It’s great to be back in the area, again!

When I’m not looking after my young daughter, you can find me reading some of my favorite blogs and visiting my favorite sites (check out my links page), shopping for kitchen stuff, baking, and reading my favorite cookbooks and foodie/craft magazines.

I’d love to hear from you!  Please feel free to contact me or leave me a comment!

You can also find me on Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter.
